How To Make A Scrap Fabric Bowl

Knock down your scrap pile with this fun bowl sewing project. It has so many uses.

Simple and fun, this scrap fabric bowl is a quick project that cost me nothing to make because all the supplies were leftovers from past projects!

SUPPLIES NEEDED

– Super-Bulky Yarn – Fabric – Printed Fabric – White Felt Fabric – Matching Thread

STEP 1

Trace the round form onto the two pieces of chipboard/cardboard and the foam piece. Cut these circles out. Set aside.

STEP 2

Fold one of the strips of fabric around the end of the bulky yarn, bringing the two edges of the fabric together, wrapping the yarn inside.

STEP 3

Sew the two sides of the fabric together, about ¼-inch from the yarn’s edge. Remember to go back and forth a couple of times when you begin stitching to ensure the thread will not come undone.

STEP 4

When you reach about 1-inch from the end of the folded fabric piece, pin a second piece onto the first, overlapping the ends by about ½-inch. Fold the second strip of fabric over and continue wrapping the yarn in fabric.

STEP 5

Remember to go back and forth a couple of times when you begin and end the stitching to ensure the thread will not come undone. Trim the edge of the fabric, about ¼-inch from the seam.
