HOW TO MAKE A CIRCLE ZIP EARBUD POUCH

You can print and use our Pattern to cut the circles. Once you cut out the needed 5-inch circles (6 total, two for each fabric or batting), then you need to cut one of each of the 5-inch circles in half.

Lay one of the lining half-circles face up. Then lay the zipper face up on top of that piece making sure the flat edge of the circle matches the edge of the zipper.

Then place the batting half circle on top of that. Make sure all the edges are lined up. Use a few pins to pin it all together.

Sew it all together along the flat side where it is all lined up. You want to sew it 1/4″ in. At the start and end, you need to do a lockstitch. You do that by starting the stitching for a few stitches then hold the reverse button and back over those stitches and then release button and keep stitching.

Trim the batting between the stitch line and the lined edge on both sides. You want to trim off as much as you can making sure not to cut fabric or stitching. Fold flaps over and iron them down.

Unzip the zipper so that it is just inside the fabric area. Then using a needle and thread add a tack stitch to hold the zipper together right at the edge of the fabric. This is just to hold it together as we add the tab.

The next step in making your circle zip earbud pouch is that we need to make a tab to hold the snap. Lay the 2-inch piece of fabric so that it is face down. Fold each of the longer sides in so they just touch each other. Press with the iron.

Then fold it in half so both of those folds are on top of each other and press again.

Stitch down the middle of the tab you just made to hold it in place.

Pull the tab through the ring on the clip. Then fold the tab over so the edges meet.

With the zipper facing up, lay it so the folded edges meet the tack stitch on the zipper.

Use the sewing machine to do a quick stitch to hold it in place.

Now lay the top fabric circle face down on the circle with the zipper. Then lay the batting circle on top of that then the lining circle on top of that. Add a few pins around to hold it all together.

Sew it all together with the sewing machine. You want to stitch all the way around about 3/8″ in. Remember to do a lockstitch at the start and finish of the stitching. You may need to lift the foot every so often to work out the puckers as you stitch around.

When you get to the sides with the zipper you need to run over them a few times. So just hold the reverse button like you do with a lockstitch.

Using scissors, cut off the extra ends of the zipper, and trim the fabric around the edges. Cut off as much as you can without harming your stitching.

The last step is just to turn the circle zip earbud pouch right side out. You may have to use your fingers to push the edges so that it is all turned out.
