Peasant Blouse Pattern Printing Instructions

This peasant blouse pattern has layers, so that you can choose to print only the size you need. To achieve this Adobe Reader must be installed on your machine or device. Adobe Reader allows you to click on the layers icon which will show you each size with an eyeball beside it. Click on the eyeball beside the size you do not want to print.

Before printing check that your printer is set to No scaling or Actual size. Set the Page orientation to Auto or Portrait. And then print page 1. Measure the 2” test square to see if it measures exactly 2”. If it does, print the remaining pages.

Trimming Pages

Cut off the right and top margins of each printed page before assembling the pattern. You can use tape or school glue to adhere your paper pattern together.

It is always a good idea to wash, dry, and iron your fabric before you get started. This makes it easier to cut out the pattern shapes correctly. Once you have cut all your fabric according to the pattern, the next step in this peasant blouse sewing tutorial is to mark the front bodice and the front sleeves with a pin or clip.

With right sides together, pin the sleeves to the front bodice of your peasant blouse and sew them on using a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Pin the back bodice and the sleeves right sides together and sew.

If you have a serger, finish the edges of the neck and sleeves removing ¼” seam allowance.

If you are using a sewing machine, fold the neck and the sleeves ¼” then by another 5/8” and sew.

 If you finished the edges with a serger, fold the neckline and sleeves wrong sides together by 5/8” and sew.

Leave a 2” opening in the neckline and sleeves to thread the elastic.

Next on this how to sew a peasant blouse tutorial, we will add the elastic. You will do this step for the neckline and both sleeves: Cut your elastic according to the cut chart. Attach a safety pin to the elastic.

You may also attach the other end of the elastic to the shirt so that it does not get pulled through as you move the elastic through the channel.

Feed elastic through the channel you made until it reaches the end.

Overlap both ends of the elastic by ½” and sew them together.

Rearrange the elastic in the channel so that it lays flat and sew the opening closed.

Your elastic should now be enclosed so that the sleeve is finished! Follow these same steps to sew the elastic in the other sleeve and the neckline.

Fold the hem of your shirt wrong sides together by ½”, fold again another ½” to enclose the raw edges.  Pin and sew the hem to finish it out!

  8. Leave a 2” opening in the neckline and sleeves to thread the elastic.
  9. You will do this step for the neckline and both sleeves:
  10. Cut your elastic according to the cut chart .
  11. Attach a safety pin to the elastic. and thread through sleeve and neck channels sewed steps 6-7.
  12. Overlap both ends of the elastic by ½” and sew.
  13. Rearrange the elastic in the channel. 
  14. Sew the opening closed.
  15. Fold the hem of your shirt wrong sides together by ½”, fold again another ½” to enclose the raw edges.  Pin and sew.
