We have a different kind of project for you today. Today on Happiest Camper, we show you How To Make A Sock Pony! How cute is this?! This fun little plush toy is super easy to make. This project was a nice change of pace for me, as I enjoyed taking a break from the sewing machine. I have made other plushies before, but this is the biggest and best one I have made yet! I just used some old socks I didn’t have a match for anymore along with some yarn and other supplies. This project is super cheap to make, so you could crank out a few of these in one sitting if you had enough mismatched socks that were cute. Unlike our previous felt toys, this sock pony is more robust and feels more like a traditional stuffed toy you would buy in-store. That’s another great thing about this project – you can make it for pennies compared to what you would pay in a store. I had some leftover yarn from some previous crafts and it worked out great for the pony’s mane and tail. Everything about this project is simple and perfect for beginners wanting to try something new.
I used fuzzy slipper socks for the body and a regular plain white sock for the nose. Feel free to use whatever combo you want. And don’t pass up the opportunity to buy some extra fuzzy socks for yourself. They are the best when the weather gets cooler. You’ll only need a few other basic supplies like yarn as I mentioned, a hot glue gun and glue, some craft felt, some thread, and a hand sewing needle. A pencil or other marking utensil is needed to draw on your felt as well. Gather up all your supplies and let’s get started!
What You’ll Need:
- Blue and white socks (I recommend fuzzy slipper socks for the body.)
- red, yellow, green and purple yarns
- black and pink felt material
- white and blue thread
- scissors
- pencil
- hand sewing needle
- hot glue gun & glue

Sew along the drawn lines so that you have four separate rectangles.
Now that the legs are sewn, now you just need to cut out the rectangles about 1/2 inch from the lines.
Turn the legs inside out.
Stuff the legs with filler the same way you did the body for your sock pony.
Make a running stitch around the top to close them off.

Set aside your sock pony momentarily. Cut off the toe of the white sock.
Sew the white sock piece you cut out onto the pony’s face with the edges turned inside.
Before you’re done sewing the piece, fill the pocket with filler and then finish sewing it up.
Now on this how to make a sock pony tutorial, we are done with the pony body for now. It’s time to add some color. Cut threads of the same length from the red, yellow, green, and purple yarns.
To add a mane for your pony, sew a straight line down the middle of the pony’s head.
Cut threads of the same length from the red, yellow, green, and purple yarns again. This will be the pony’s tail. Sew it to the body. Trim the yarn to your desired length.
For the next step in this how to make a sock pony tutorial, we will make the eyes for our sock pony. Cut two identical semicircles out of the pink felt.
Cut out two thin lines on the black felt.
Glue a line to each semicircle. Cut the black part like the lashes.
