Loofah soap is fantastic for exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing your skin all at the same time. Did you know you can grow loofah in your garden? Really! It’s a fibrous interior of a fruit that is dried and used as a sponge. I recently learned that and it blew my mind. It is on my list to plant next year because I want to make sure I have a steady supply of loofah soap. For now, you can order them on Amazon.
When combined with goats milk soap and essential oils, loofah soap provides deep moisturizing qualities that give your skin a healthy glow. The jojoba beads add an exfoliating property that leave your skin silky smooth. Once you have all the supplies together, loofah soap is quick and easy to make.
Supplies to Make Loofah Soap
- 1-2 lbs goats milk soap
- 1-2 loofah sponges
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil
- 10-20 drops patchouli essential oil
- 10-20 drops frankincense essential oil
- 1 tblsp jojoba beads
- Soap mold
- Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
You will also need a candy thermometer for this project.
How to Make Loofah Soap
Melt goats milk soap base in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat until completely melted.
In a separate bowl, combine patchouli, frankincense and jojoba oils.
Add oils to the soap base and mix well.
Using a candy thermometer, wait for the temperature of the soap mixture to drop below 140 degrees. Then add the jojoba beads. The beads will melt if you add them before the soap mixture has cooled.
Gently mix the jojoba beads into the soap mixture.
Slice the loofah into disks that will fit your soap mold with a knife.. Mine were about 1/2 inch. Place one slice in each mold.
Pour the soap mixture into the soap mold, and spray with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any air bubbles.
Allow the loofah soap to harden overnight. Carefully remove the soaps and store in an airtight container.
Your whole family will love this loofah soap. It is pretty enough to give as a gift or use as decoration in the guest bathroom as well. If you like this post, you’ll love this Pink Grapefruit Moisturizing Soap too!
